Lloyd Wayne Shockley Passes Away
(Former WPVR-Roanoke, WRNL-Richmond Announcer)

Lloyd Wayne Shockley, 66, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2008 at MCV. Born April 28 in Wytheville, Va., he was raised in both Wytheville and Salem, Va. After college, both Lloyd and his brother, Norman, prospered in successful careers in advertising while living in Richmond. Lloyd was president and owned The Shockley Agency and On Hold Marketing for many years. His creativity can still be seen on TV and heard throughout the country through his On Hold message service. A love of acting and success in business were a proud chapter in his life. But Lloyd's true love could be found in his family and friends. It is here that Lloyd's inspiration and warm heart will forever live in the hearts and lives of those he cared for most. He is remembered as a true Renaissance man. An actor, singer, pied piper (aka POPPI) to all children and animals, magician, business owner, civic leader, radio DJ, speech teacher and writer are only some of the talents of this remarkable man. His mother, Treva Dunford Shockley; and brother, Norman Sawyers Shockley, predeceased Lloyd. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lynne; his son, Kent Poulos and his wife, Renee Poulos, of Richmond; his father, Lloyd Sawyers Shockley and his wife, Frankie Shockley, of Salem, Va.; two granddaughters, Karina Mae Poulos and Laney Anna Poulos of Richmond; and numerous other family and friends dear to his heart. A memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, September 8, at Bliley's Central Chapel, 3801 Augusta Ave. Reception to follow service at the funeral home. Donations may be made to SPARC, P.O.
